Reiter, Walter Paul
Walter Paul Reiter, born Dec. 21, 1916, in Vinita, Okla., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 23, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen.
He is survived by his son, Doug and wife Mary; two grandsons, David and wife Susie of Austin, Texas, and Craig and wife Rochelle of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and four terrific great-grandkids, Garrett, 12, Audrey, 9, Jackson, 5, and Mackenzie, 2.
He grew up in Coffeyville, Kan., where he met and married his wife, Helen, and they had their only child, Doug.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves during World War II. He was a graduate of Kansas State University, earning a degree in milling engineering. After graduation from K-State he joined the Quaker Oats Co. and worked in Akron, Ohio, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, retiring March 1, 1980, after 30 years of service, as plant superintendent in St. Joseph, Mo.
His priority was always his family and never more so when he cared for his wife, Helen, during the several years she battled cancer. He never once complained.
He enjoyed golf, long walks, cards, his yard, and a few close friends. After moving to Dallas he especially enjoyed the impromptu visits from his grandsons.
Paul was a man's man, quiet, positive attitude, straight talker, ethical, hard worker, kind, humble, meticulous dresser and physically trim.
A burial service was held with close family on Dec. 29 at Restland Cemetery, Dallas. A memorial Mass will be announced at a later date.
