Reinhart, Walter James 'Buck'
Walter James “Buck” Reinhart, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City. Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Millersburg United Methodist Church in Millersburg. Pastor Ben Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a VFW service at 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
Walter was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Victor, Iowa, the son of Clarence Charles John and Sara Hazel (Gerard) Reinhart. He attended Millersburg Schools and later attended Kirkwood Community College. He was a Boatsmate 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a farmer, tiling contractor, real estate and insurance agent. He was also a Vermeer dealer and worked at the English Valley Care Center. On June 23, 1948, he was united in marriage to Helen Louise Spading in Marengo. She passed away in April 1975. On Jan. 15, 1979, he married Doris Lenore Lydens Butler in Fort Charlotte, Fla. She passed away in November 1994. On Sept. 23, 1995, he married Margaret Louise Creps Hanke in Williamsburg.
Buck was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Shriners, Consistory, and past Master of the Masonic Lodge. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, 50-year member of the American Legion and served on the DRM school board. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Williamsburg; his children, Gary (Judith) Reinhart of Miami Beach, Fla., Neal (Carma) Reinhart of Olive Branch, Miss., James (Delores) Reinhart of North English, Debra (Randy) Grimm and Brenda (Doug) Wiebold of Williamsburg; two stepdaughters, Julia Himmesbach of Atkins and Sherry Ruff of Reading, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lottie Winkler of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen; second wife, Doris; and two sisters, Phyllis Reinhart and Doris Seaton.
A memorial fund has been established for the Millersburg United Methodist Church.
