Reed, Warren Lee
Warren Lee Reed, 70, of Troy Mills, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his three daughters, Robin (Lonnie) Clark of Tama, Ranie Derr (Kendon Weltha) of Marion and Rachel (Adam) Chrystal of Palo; two sisters, Phyllis (Bob) Stevens of Cedar Rapids and Charlotte Null of Marion; six grandchildren, Nikki (Boo), John, and Jessica Clark, all of Tama, and Austin, Mitchell and Kacie Derr; and five great-grandchildren.
Warren was born Sept. 12, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Russell and Nettie (Knapper) Reed.At age 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps League and his life was full of adventure thereafter.He was a farmhand, raced motorcycles in hill climbs, and then went to drilling wells.He found a passion for working on the barges of the Mississippi, then went into the bar ownership business, on to be an over-the-road semi truck driver, a professional painter and lastly, retired from the courier business.
He was devoted to his family and loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, nature and the outdoors.Warren also enjoyed going to Thailand in the winter months for the last several years, a place he called “his paradise.”
Warren will be deeply missed by his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial funds may be sent to the family.
