Reed, Shirley Alice
Shirley Alice Reed, 76, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at her residence following an extended illness. She donated her body to the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa.
Shirley was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Urbana, Ill., to James Vernon and Jean (Summers) Gillespie. She was united in marriage to William Reed.
Shirley enjoyed bowling and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Reed; her children, William (Debra) Reed of Wisconsin, Christopher (Pat) Reed of Colorado, Linda (Kermitt) Tietz of New Mexico, David Reed of Vinton and Shirley Reed of Cedar Rapids; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Bill (Sally Jo) Gillespie of Illinois; and her sister, Judy Hildahl of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bob; and her sister, Jeanette.
Phillips Funeral Home is assisting Shirley's family.
