Reed, Robert
Robert Reed, 83, of Manchester, died at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood, Iowa, on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012. Robert's body was donated to the University of Iowa. Memorial Services will be held at a later date at the Bohnenkamp- Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa.
Robert was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Harold and Evelyn Reed. He graduated from the Manchester High School in 1946 and attended Simpson College and Estherville Junior College. He received his Master's degree from Simpson College. Robert served with United States Army in Korea from 1951 to 1953. Robert worked in the Manchester School District for over 40 years and also worked at Dolliver, Nevada and Graettinger as a teacher, principal and coach.
Robert enjoyed spending his time golfing, making surprise gifts for people, going to Bill's barber shop and out for coffee with Les. He was big into athletics and especially enjoyed the Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, Cubs and West Delaware football and baseball.
He is survived by three brothers, Jack Reed of Evanston, Ill., Charles (Mariel) Reed of Pendleton, Ind., and Jim (Normanda) Reed of Port Washington, Wis.; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Les and Carol Carlson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
