Redlinger, John V.
John V. Redlinger, 93, of Solon, formerly of Harper, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Solon Care Center.
John was born July 30, 1919, in Harper, to John and Clara (Sondag) Redlinger. He served in the Army during World War II. On Oct. 10, 1945, he married Marian Theresa Fritz at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marian of Solon; six children, Gary (Donna) Redlinger of Solon, Donna (Gary) Scheetz of Oxford, Janet Schrock of Solon, Mary Ellen (Bill) Barry of Fairfax, Dennis (Joni) Redlinger and Dean (Jeanene) Redlinger, both of Keota; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia (Ginny) O'Donnell of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Leola Redlinger and Mary Greiner; brothers, Bernard, Alvin, James and Cletus Redlinger; and a great-grandson, Zachary Engrav.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with the Rev. Jim Vrba and the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial: Holy Trinity Cemeteries-St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper, with military rites. Visitation: from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with a wake service at 4 p.m.
A memorial fund for Iowa City Hospice or the Solon Care Center Employee Fund has been established.
