Ronald G. Redington, 65, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Pastor Lynn L'Abbe. The family will greet friends from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cindy; children, Traci (Dean) Hepker of Grimes and Brian (Nicole) Redington of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Katie, Patricia, Abbie and William; mother-in-law, Mary Schoop of Marion; sisters-in-law, Jodi (Dave) Cahalan of Manchester and Chris (Jim) Meggers of Marion; special friends, Fred and Teresa Haumesser of Cedar Rapids; and extended family in Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Marvin, who died at birth; and father-in-law, William “Bill” Schoop.

Ron was born Aug. 14, 1947, in Greensburg, Ind., the son of Nolan and Nancy (Dietz) Redington. He married Cynthia Schoop on Nov. 22, 1969, in Marion. Ron was a senior engineer manager for Rockwell Collins for over 35 years.

He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Ron loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandkids. He enjoyed racing and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Ron truly enjoyed his job and working in his garden.

A memorial fund has been established in Ron's memory.
