L.T. “Buzz” Rechkemmer, 77, of Oelwein, died Sunday morning, Oct. 16, 2011, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein after a courageous battle with cancer. Service of Christian Burial: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with Deacon Jim Patera officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein. Scripture service: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein,
Buzz is survived by his wife, Shirley Rechkemmer of Oelwein;
two sons, Robert “Buzzy” (Linda) Rechkemmer of Oelwein and
John “Jack” (Connie) Rechkemmer of Fairbank; two daughters, Debra Steffen of Oelwein and Lynn Marie Rechkemmer of Oelwein; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; stepgreat-grandchild; sister, Joyce Weber of Pleasanton, Calif.; and a brother, William (Mary) Rechkemmer of Waverly.
