Rebecca Lynn Paulson, 43, of Marion, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, following an extended illness.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 3500 29th Ave., Marion, IA 52302. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
Rebecca is survived by her loving husband, Doug Paulson of Marion; two children, Seth and Kathryn; parents, Allen and Lorraine Bushek of Coon Valley, Wis.; brother, Brian (Jennifer) Bushek of Chicago; father- and mother-in-law, John and Jean Paulson of Onalaska, Wis.; and many loving extended family and friends. Rebecca also is survived by her special pets: a dog, Skippy, and cat, Doby.
She was preceded in death by her infant brother and sister.
Rebecca Lynn Bushek was born Nov. 13, 1972, in Brookfield, Wis., the daughter of Allen and Lorraine (Kapanke) Bushek. In 1991, she graduated from Central High School in La Crosse, Wis. She continued her education, graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in French and Literature. Rebecca earned her master's in education from the University of Memphis in 1997. On Oct. 11, 1997, she was united in marriage to Douglas Paulson in Holmen, Wis. To this union two children were born, Seth and Kathryn.
Rebecca was a kindergarten teacher at Madison Elementary. She absolutely loved being a teacher and her students were a highlight in her life.
Rebecca loved the simple pleasures of enjoying chocolate, Coca-Cola, or an outing with her family.
She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher and friend to many.
Rebecca had a smile for everyone she met and will be missed by all. Her legacy of love will be treasured always.
Rebecca's family would like to express their gratitude to all who supported her and the family during her illness, including UnityPoint Hospice, The Ghosh Center, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection church community, teachers, students, administrators and their very dear family of friends.
