REBECCA "BECCY" DEARBORN
Ankeny
Rebecca "Beccy" Jane Fink Dearborn, 68, of Ankeny, passed into our Savior's arms on May 19, 2015, at her home after a four-year battle with cancer.
Beccy was born Sept. 16, 1946, in Manhattan, Kan.,
the second child of Lorrin and Lois Fink.
Beccy was a dedicated elementary school teacher who tirelessly worked to help each student she encountered during her 17 years of teaching in Kansas, Colorado and Iowa, until her retirement in 2011 from Beaver Creek in Johnston. She also served as church secretary for Faith Bible Church in Robins.
She enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren, sewing, knitting, gardening and cheering on the Denver Broncos. An avid reader, she enjoyed reading the Bible and attending Bible studies.
She was a graduate of Bible Study Fellowship and served as a children's leader for several years in Des Moines. She also loved to travel and find local festivals and historical landmarks to visit.
Her greatest joy was found in loving and serving others and making them feel special.
Beccy is survived by her husband, Robert Dearborn of Ankeny; daughters, Mandy (Jeff) Safley of Roseville, Calif., Kamy (Shawn) Beattie of Davenport and Cassy (Matt) Townsley of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren; her mother, Lois Fink of Manhattan, Kan.; and sisters, Sherry (Jeff) Denton of Salina, Kan., and Jan (Curtis) Converse of Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lorrin Fink, and aunt, Mildred Loeffler.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th St., Des Moines. Visitation will precede the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at Grace. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan, Kan.
In loving memory of Beccy (Fink) Dearborn, memorial contributions may be directed to Emporia State University Foundation, 1500 Highland St., Emporia, KS 66801-5018, to establish a scholarship fund for students majoring in elementary education.
