Raymond Dale Van Norden, 85, of Chelsea, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, Iowa.

Raymond was born July 2, 1935, to Cornelius J. and Leona (Wynn) Van Norden in Chelsea. He attended country school near Chelsea before working on the family farm. Raymond served in the U.S. Army until 1963. When he came home from the service, he began Van Norden Construction, an earth moving business and eventually became a truck driver, retiring from Wynne Transport in 2009.

On Jan. 9, 1965, Raymond married Sharon Hayek in Tama, Iowa. Together they moved to their home, where they raised their two children.

Raymond loved to tinker in his shop and loved to be around family and friends. He always put others before himself.

He is survived by his children, Mark (Dana) Van Norden of Tulsa, Okla., and Kimberly (Randy) Weber of Chelsea; granddaughter, Blake Weber of Chelsea; and sisters, Mary (George) Gutierrez of Illinois and Connie Kasal of Belle Plaine.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Van Norden; brothers, Jim and Carroll Van Norden; sister, Joyce Anthony; and brother-in-law, Jim Kasal.

Private family graveside service will take place at Rector Cemetery, Chelsea, Iowa, at a later date.
