Raymond George Finn, 90, died peacefully Sunday morning, June 29, 2014, with family members at his side, at Jones Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the church. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, is assisting the family.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha; seven children, Michael (Nurit), Anamosa, Kelly, Iowa City, Marcia, Anamosa, Denise Allamand, Marion, Anne (Gordon) Siebels, Anamosa, Elizabeth (Phillip) Smith, Cedar Rapids, and Tim, Marion; his sisters, Maxine (Ed) Brady and Maldean Finn, both of Anamosa; five grandchildren, Eric, Danielle, RaeLynn, Daniel and Gabriel; and six great-grandchildren, Karianna, Kiytalea, LaRon, Ayanna, Patrick, Logan and Zachary.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Patrick; infant son, Danny; and siblings, William, Merlin, Tom, Mary Lou McNamara and Florence Marak; and a son-in-law, Ev Allamand.
Ray was born Feb. 22, 1924, to George and Laura Kelly Finn at Temple Hill, near Cascade. Ray attended rural schools and the Anamosa High School, which he left in his senior year to work at the Rock Island Arsenal. In March 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a combat infantryman and rifleman, for 14 months in France, Germany and Belgium. Ray was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart. Ray was honorably discharged Oct. 30, 1945.
Ray married Bertha Arthur on Feb. 22, 1951, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Ray took up the trade of carpentry and was a union steward working at the Duane Arnold Energy Center, Palo, until its completion. He retired from the Men's Reformatory in 1993, where he was employed as a correctional trade's
leader.
