Raymond Lee Bequeaith, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 26, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Carol Sundberg. Burial: Leando Cemetery, Douds. Friends may visit with the family form 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
Ray is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Sheryl; son, David of Hiawatha; daughters, Maria (John) Steenblock of Ely and Kristen (Scott) Heaton of Mechanicsville; four grandsons; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan (Sue) Bequeaith of Rockford, Minn., and Bob (Judy) Bequeaith of New London, Mo.; and Ruth (James) Turner of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by brother, Ted; and sister, Patty Glenn.
Ray was born Aug. 16, 1946, in Oskaloosa, the son of Glen and Opal Stout Bequeaith and graduated in 1964 from Albia High School. He married Sheryl Harryman on July 31, 1965, in Douds. Ray worked for General Mills as a production operator for 32 years, retiring in 2015. Previously, he worked for Rock Island Millwork, Albia Sales Barn, Lost Creek Coal Co., Western Auto, Panco Farm Equipment and Lumber Supply.
Ray enjoyed woodworking, bowling and going to country music concerts with his wife. He loved family time and will be missed.
