Raymond M. Anderson,
92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018,
at Higley Mansion Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Raymond was born May 26, 1926, in Buchanan County, Iowa, the son of Paul and Bertha (Reece) Anderson. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a seamen first class during World War II. On Jan. 25, 1947, Raymond was united in marriage to Margaret Besta in Cedar Rapids. He worked at Hubbard Milling Co. for 31 years. Raymond was a member of the American Legion Post 727 and Teamsters. He enjoyed sports, camping and traveling with his wife and her two sisters. Raymond's greatest love was spending time with his family.
Raymond is survived by his sons, Raymond R. (Rona Bradshaw) Anderson of Iowa City and David A. (Susan) Anderson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Bryan (Molly), Amy (Dan) and Dan; great-grandchildren, Ian, Ellen, Katy and Clark; brother, Marvin (Violet) Anderson of Marengo; sister-in-law, Marie Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bertha Anderson; his wife of 70 years, Margaret Anderson; brother, Fay Anderson; and sister, Lucille Plotz.
