Ray, Willie 'Ed'
Willie “Ed” Ray, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010. Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Word of Faith Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Wendell Beets. The wake will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Survivors include three children, Darryl Ray, Dawn Ray and Amy Ray; eight grandchildren, Dane Rupe, Delicha Ray, Demetrus Pernicka, Katrina Ray, Erica Meeks, Camryn Badgett, Dakota Rupe and Zequiel Pernicka; two sisters, Virginia Robinson and Margaret Cage; and several extended family members.
Willie was born Nov. 26, 1939, the son of George and Lectoria (Bell) Ray in McLemoresville, Tenn. He served with the U.S. Air Force. Willie worked for Linkbelt and later retired from St. Luke's Hospital.
Willie was a jokester, he was high-spirited and his smile and laughter will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Willie's memory at Veridian Credit Union.
