Rave Sr., Gilbert A.
Gilbert A. Rave Sr., 77, of 810 First Ave. SW, Farley, was called to his home in Heaven on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 2:46 a.m. at Finley Hospital in Dubuque. Friends and relatives of Gilbert may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, where a wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Gilbert was born April 15, 1932, in Otter Creek, Iowa, son of John and Lena (Sieverding) Rave. On May 9, 1955, he was united in marriage to Shirley Tobin at Worthington, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Rave; 13 children, Gilbert Rave Jr., Connie Gioimo (and friend, Wes), Karen Rave, Rick (Kathy) Rave, Sherry (Tom) Streif, Loras Rave, Polly (Keith) Goerdt, Peggy (Lee) Jellison, Karla (Steve) Garrett, Heidi (Steve) MacDonald, Roxanne (John) Gartner, Daniel Rave and Jodi (Mike) Delaney; 37 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Jake) Mullis; and a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Rave.
