Rathmann, Jennie Rathmann
Jennie M. Rathmann, 98, of Oxford Junction, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in the Anamosa Care Center. Graveside services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Cemetery, Clarence.
She is survived by her devoted children son, James of Bettendorf; and daughter, JoAnn (William) Tydings of Silver Springs, Fla.; her devoted sister-in-law. Carleen Sievertsen of Anamosa; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Mike and John; two brothers; and one sister.
Jennie was born June 29, 1914, in Jones County, Iowa, to Sievert and Anna Christiansen Sievertsen. On May 1, 1934, she married John P. Rathmann in Des Moines. He died in 1976. Jennie was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed years as an active church member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, she was a past 4-H leader, and she enjoyed traveling and the letters and visits from her loyal family and friends. She had lived in Oxford Junction since 1945. She moved to Woodland Park Assisted Living in Anamosa five years ago.
Jennie's family is thankful for the good care received at Jones Regional Hospital and from the Woodland Park Nurses and staff members.
Memorials may be made to St. Marks Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction or to Woodland Park Assisted Living Center in Anamosa.
