Ralph Robert Frese was born Feb. 24, 1922, in Russell, Kanas the son of Ernest H.L. and Johanna Christina (Lindemann) Frese. He graduated high school and St. Paul College in Concordia, Mo. He also attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. Ralph was united in marriage to Rosetta Marie Schmidt on Aug. 9, 1953, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan, Iowa. He taught school in Seward, Neb.; Araphoe, Neb,;Yuma, Colo.; St. John Parochial School near Homestead and the Lutheran Interparish School in Williamsburg. Ralph was a member of St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead, where he served as secretary and Sunday school superintendent. He enjoyed doing carpentry work, fishing, doing puzzles, working with flowers and bird watching. Ralph passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at Brookstone Assisted Living in Aledo, Ill., at the age of 96.
He is survived by his daughter, Marnita (Shawn) Curry of Sherrard, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Frese of Sigourney; five grandchildren, Daniel Frese, Riley (Sonia) Curry, Kenneth Jr. (Heather) Frese, Robert Frese and Thomas Frese; seven great-grandchildren, Reagan Curry, Craig, Vanessa, and Allis Frese, Liam Curry, Seamus and Finnegan Curry; and a sister, Johanna Herrs of Olathe, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Kenneth; a sister, Ruth; and eight brothers, Royden, Ernest, John, Ted, Carl, Daniel, Lincoln and Lather.
Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
