Randy Littrell, 64, of Des Moines, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, peacefully in his sleep of a heart attack.
Randy was born March 12, 1959. After graduating from West High school in Iowa City, he attended two years of college at San Diego State, majoring in oceanography and graduating from the University of Iowa.
He loved the outdoors, collecting geodes and sharing rock hunting stories with his family. Randy’s love for the outdoors led him to work in the construction field for many years. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, growing his many beds of daffodils and spending time with his four-legged friend, Callie.
He is survived by his significant other, Darlene DeLong; her son, Colton (Alivia); her mother, Irene Steinbrech; his mother, Mary; sisters Karen (Tim) and Kris; and brothers Dan and Chuck (Trish); and brother-in-law, Jeff. He loved his nephews Jake (Mary Beth), Nick, Sean and Dillon (Addie), and niece Sydney. Extra bonus was his great-niece, Parker Quinn.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Liness and his grandparents. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to your local animal shelter in Randy’s name.
