Randy P. Lahey, 58, of Maquoketa, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Jackson County Regional Health Center.
His funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held Saturday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service in Maquoketa. Burial will be held at West Union Cemetery at a later date.
Randy was born Aug. 25, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Loras J. and Cecilia (Steffens) Lahey. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1976 and attended Upper Iowa University, where he received his bachelor's degree in business. He then went on to earn his degree in mortuary science. Upon graduation, Randy became a funeral director and was the owner and operator of Lahey Funeral Homes for almost 30 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in both Maquoketa and Oxford Junction. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Father Loosbrook Council 8269, where he was a past Grand Knight. He also was a member of Kiwanis Club, Rotary and NFDA and served on the IFDA Ethics Board for several terms.
Randy is survived by his children, Kevin Lahey of Maquoketa, Todd (Jenny) Lahey of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Jacqueline) Lahey of Anamosa and Amy (Jared) Delarm of Maquoketa; five grandchildren; a sister, Gloria "Jeannie" Wedo of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; a brother, Chuck (Sandy) Lahey of Durand, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Doris Lahey of New Glarus, Wis.; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Isabelle, who always was by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gail; and brothers, Jerry and Loras.
Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Church in his honor.
