Randy Dean Fields, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home Monday, Oct. 12, 2015. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, by Pastor Greg Williamson, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marion. Friends may call after noon Saturday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home.
Randy is survived by his mother, Lois (Jack) Frisk, Cedar Rapids; sisters, Debbie (Eric) Berg, Robins, and Dorrie Armstrong, Cedar Rapids; brothers, Chris Church, Cedar Rapids, Harry Fields, Deming, N.M., and George (Michelle) Fields, Topeka, Kan.; stepbrother, Bart (Melanie) Frisk, Shueyville; very dear friend, Robert Williams, Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lou Ann Goldie and Terry Lynn Kester; his brother, Douglas Fields Jr.; his father, Keith Collier; his "mom," Bessie Church, and "dad," Douglas Fields Sr.; and his grandparents, George Sr. and Ruth Fields.
Randy was born Jan. 19, 1954, in Iowa City, and was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson High School. He was a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy for four years. Randy lived in Boston, Mass., for over 30 years, where he was employed as a medical administrator and private health care provider at Boston Children's Hospital. He returned to Cedar Rapids from Boston on Aug. 2, 2014.
