Randy E. Harms
RANDY E. HARMS
Monticello
Randy E. Harms, 64, a lifelong Monticello resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. To honor Randy's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held this summer.
Randy Edward Harms was born on Nov. 14, 1957, the son of Margaret and Robert Harms. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1976. While in high school, Randy played football, which led to his lifelong love of the sport. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packer fan.
In 1987, Randy married Lori Nelson and they had two children, Ashley and Jordan. He took pride in his children's involvement in school activities and most especially their attendance at Iowa State University. Above anything else, Randy loved being a grandpa to his "little munchkins."
Randy was a member of the Monticello Fire Department for 22 years and the Jones County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He drove truck and, most recently, worked for Accent Construction.
Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR every Sunday. He loved making wonderful, home cooked meals where he would make enough food to feed a small army. Randy created his own "Meals on Wheels" to deliver food to his friends and family.
Randy is lovingly remembered by his children, Ashley (Kyle) Ishmael of Ames and Jordan Harms of Monticello; grandchildren, Hayden, Callan and Landry; and granddog, Toby. He is survived by his siblings, Teresa "Teri" (Pete) Compagnone, Tammy Harms and Angel (Brandon) Davis; special friends, Nicole Stevens and Sam Boyd; and many cousins and friends, whom all share special memories.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jonas and Bessie Drumbarger-Hakes of Viola; his parents; and brother, Robert "Bobby" Harms.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Jenigiri and everyone at Physicians Clinic of Iowa and Above & Beyond Hospice for their care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Above and Beyond Hospice Foundation or the Monticello Fire Department.
