Randall 'Randy' Reiling
RANDALL LEE REILING
Winthrop
Randall "Randy" Lee Reiling, 66, of Winthrop, Iowa, entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.
Randy was born on Sept. 27, 1951, in Aledo, Ill., the son of Clair and Ruth Hines Reiling. He was baptized, confirmed and raised in the Methodist faith. The family moved to rural Winthrop when Randy was 2 years old. He attended school at Starmont, where he graduated with the class of 1970. Randy was blessed with his three children, Jeremy, Jenni and Kelsey.
Randy was united in marriage to Latha Henderson on July 24, 2004, gaining four more children and many grandchildren. As the children married, and more grandchildren arrived, he found his greatest joy was being called "Papa." For a while, the grandkids even thought he owned Chuck E. Cheese's. Randy inherited his love of farming from his father, Clair, and now that love has been passed down to his son, Jeremy. He was actively farming by phone even after he was no longer able to be present on the farm. If Randy wasn't farming, he could be found landscaping, planting trees or negotiating a good deal.
Randy was a member of the Church of Christ United and the Buchanan County Pork Producers, from which he received many awards. The last number of years, Randy and Latha enjoyed the warmth of the California sunshine during the cold Iowa winters. Randy's life really was a "Life Well Lived."
Survivors include his three children and eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Holly) Reiling and their children, Claire, Cole, Quinn and new baby in December, Jenni (J.D.) Myers and their children, Jack and Ava, and Kelsey (Ryan) Burke and their children, Declan and Norah; his wife, Latha, and her four children, Jill (Chuck) Settle and their children, Lainey (great-granddaughter Alyvia), Blake, Josh and Walker, Chad (Missy) Henderson and their children, Wesley, Gracie, Natalie and Hailey, Eric (Alicia) Henderson and their children, Kooper, Kort and McKinley, and Abby Engelken (Nick Burkle) and their children, Sammy, Brandon, Oliver and Natalie; brothers, Larry (Dorothy) Reiling and Calvin (Carolyn) Reiling; sister, Kaye (Jon) Downer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Ruth Reiling.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop, and on Monday after 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ United. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, in the Church of Christ United, Winthrop, with Pastor Dean Schlitter officiating. Pallbearers are nephews Bryan Reiling, Greg Downer, Steve Downer, Mark Reiling, Mike Reiling and Kevin Reiling. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Winthrop. Fawcett Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family, online at www.fawcettsfuneralhome.com under obituaries.
