Randy was born on June 4, 1964, in Cedar Falls, IA, the son of Herman E. and Dixie K. (Fisher) Maas. He grew up on a farm outside of Quasqueton, IA, and attended the East Buchanan Community Schools. In 1982, Randy graduated and married his high school sweetheart, Lee Ann Thompson. Randy loved the town of Quasqueton, and that’s where they raised their two children.
Randy was always known as a hard worker. For over thirty-six years, Randy worked as a machinist there. He was also a board member of the East Buchanan Telephone Co-Op from 2013-2022 and a member of the Buchanan County Wildlife Association.
He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's events, fishing, racing competition RC cars, cooking meals for those he loved, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Dixie Maas, Cedar Rapids, IA, his children; Amber (Jodi Schmidt) Maas, Marion, IA, and Andrew (Halley) Maas, Winthrop, IA, four grandchildren, Carson Schmidt, Adalyn, Brooklyn, and Claire Maas, a sister, Deana (Stan) Neimeier, Walker, IA, and several nieces and nephews. Randy is preceded in death by his father, Herman Maas.
