Randall, Dorothy Mae Baxa
Dorothy Mae Baxa Randall, 90, of Lisbon, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, in Mechanicsville Care and Rehabilitation Center. Dorothy's funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Thomas Mattson. Dorothy's visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. After a light lunch, Dorothy's graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery, Solon.
Surviving Dorothy are four sons, Ron, Mount Vernon, John (Carol), Lisbon, Doug (Connie), Cedar Rapids, and Al (Crystal), Lisbon; two daughters, Mary (Adolph Jr.) Zabloudil, Mount Vernon and Jan Pauley, Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Ginny Randall, Mount Vernon; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving Dorothy are her beloved sisters, Retha Herbst, Mount Vernon and Darlene Lnenicka, Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Leonard Lnenicka, Center Point; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; husband, Walter; son, David; brother, George Baxa; and sisters, Marguerite Mitchell, Marietta Stepanek, Maxine Seiler, Wilma Reynolds and Bonnie Lnenicka.
Dorothy was born March 30, 1922, at Sutliff, the daughter of Joseph and Edna Myrtle Smith Baxa. She married Walter Randall on Nov. 16, 1939, in the Methodist Church Parsonage in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1963. Dorothy started working in 1960 for Collins Radio. She worked for 22 years, while raising and supporting her children, retiring in 1982.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy, St. Luke's Infusion, Mercy Oncology and the staff of Mechanicsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial fund has been established in Dorothy's name.
