Port Hueneme, Calif.
Randal "Randy" Martens, 66, of Port Hueneme, Calif., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 22, 2024. Cremation will be performed in California. Randal is survived by three children, Theresa, Ann Marie and Mark, his brothers, Rod (Mandy) Martens of Cedar Rapids and Charles (Nancy) Martens of Washington state; his parents, Lloyd and Alice Martens of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Randy was born Nov. 7, 1957 in Cedar Rapids to Lloyd and Alice (Williamson) Martens.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976. He attended Kirkwood Community College for one year. His life’s work started with the U.S. Navy when he enlisted in 1978. His travels took him many places, from Operation Desert Storm to the Philippines, and back to California. His last deployment was at the Naval base at Port Hueneme, California. He retired from active duty there after 20 years. He then worked as a federal employee for the Navy at Port Hueneme Naval Base for another 20 years. He most recently worked as a civilian contractor for the navy at the Port Hueneme Underway Replenishment facility where he passed away.
