Ramsey, John C.
Also surviving are two sisters, Doris (William) Haeussler of Marion, and Barbara Ashlock of Center Point; and a brother, Jim (Virginia) Ramsey of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patsy Shaheen; an infant brother, Donald Ramsey; and two granddaughters, Stephanie (Ramsey) Thur and Kathleen Springman.
John was born July 8, 1928, the son of Marvin “Bud” and Harriet (Batchelder) Ramsey in Central City. He graduated from Urbana High School in 1946. John served with the U.S. Air Force from 1947to 1950. On Sept. 4, 1950, he married Marlene Moffatt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. John worked for Rockwell Collins for 30 years, retiring in 1985.
John enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball, auto racing and restoring old cars. His passions were his family and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, which he rode until he was 78. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and a charter member of Metro Harley Davidson Club in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in John's memory.
