Ralph E Simons, 69, of Mason City, Iowa, formerly
of Manchester, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at the IOOF (Iowa Odd Fellows) Home in Mason City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home, with burial at Oakland Cemetery.
Ralph was born Jan. 21, 1948, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Edna (Pohlman) Simons. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1966. Ralph then furthered his education at UNI and Mankato, focusing on health and physical education. He then taught at Bemidji State College. Ralph then decided to continue his education in marriage and family therapy at Brigham Young. He was very focused on building strong families. Ralph then did marriage and family therapy services in Omaha and southwest Iowa. He moved to Marble Rock, Iowa, and then taught at Mason City High School until he retired in 2008.
Ralph was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and New York Yankees. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting friends, golfing and listening to music. He was a Sherlock Holmes aficionado.
He is survived by his sister, Rhonda of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and many cousins.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Ira and Jennie Pohlman, and Sidney and Grace Simons; and many aunts and uncles.
