Rainwater, Cleave R.
Cleave R. Rainwater, 91, a resident of Cottage Grove Place, died there Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where there also will be Masonic rites. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Bob (Pat) of Hiawatha; and two daughters, Barbara (Don) Ackerman of Austin, Texas and Brenda (Jim) Clancy of Cedar Rapids.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Doug, Chris, Tricia, Chad, Michael and Sara; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and two sisters.
Cleave was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Mount Vernon, Ill., the son of Thomas and Oda Baldridge Rainwater. He married Bernadine Clemins on Sept. 6, 1941, in Mount Vernon, Ill. Bernadine passed away in 1973.
Cleave was a district manager for Metropolitan Life and retired from there after more than 26 years of service.
He was a member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, El Kahir Shrine, Crescent Masonic Lodge and the Rotary Club.
Cleave was a true family man. Family gatherings and attending activities that his grandchildren were involved in were very important to him. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be given to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital or to Mercy Hospice in Cleave's name.
