Raftis, Ruby M. (Lowder) Share
Ruby M. (Lowder) Share Raftis, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died early Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Ruby made the decision to donate her body to the University of Iowa for medical research. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is serving the family.
Ruby is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lambert of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, David (Rose) Lambert of San Diego, Calif., Joi Lambert of San Francisco, Calif., and Scott (Becky) Lambert of Buffalo, Wyo.; three great-grandchildren, Emily and Hannah Lambert of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Barbara Devine of Magnolia, Ohio; three great-great-grandchildren, Callum Lambert of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Tristan and Charles Devine of Magnolia, Ohio; and three brothers, Tom (Sondra) and Phil (Bernita) Lowder, all of Cedar Rapids, and John (Trauda) Lowder of Albuquerque, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, LeRoy Share and George Raftis; her parents; and her brother, Ken Lowder.
Ruby was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Traer, to John and Dorotha (Louder) Lowder. She returned to Cedar Rapids from Gainesville, Fla., in the early 1970s. Ruby was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. She loved her little dogs, they were her “children.”
Memorial contributions may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Association.
