CEDAR RAPIDS - Mary Griffin Radcliffe, 90, passed away Oct. 10, 2010, at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines, Iowa. A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 15, at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1705 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, in Cedar Rapids.
Mary Catherine Griffin was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the only child of Jay W. Griffin and Alice Trefzger Griffin.
A 1942 graduate of Grinnell College, Mary resided in either Cedar Rapids or Des Moines for the majority of her life. While in Cedar Rapids she was a health educator for the American Red Cross and a dietitian for Mercy Hospital. She was active in St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol, in 1957 and her best friend and cousin, Maxine Brown Prastka, in 1999.
Mary is survived by her children, Cryss Farley (Pat) of St. Paul, Minn., and Dell Radcliffe (Mike Delaney), Mary Christopher, and Jay Radcliffe (Amy Hunsicker), all of Des Moines. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorial contributions be directed to Grinnell College English Scholarships (Attn: Sue) 733 Broad St., Grinnell, IA 50112.
