Rachel Ann Walton, 81, formerly of Iowa City, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, in Madison, N.J. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with Father Gary
Beckman officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Dr., Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
Rachel was born Jan. 4, 1933, in West Branch, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Hilda Bartlett Kessler. On Sept. 10, 1956, Rachel married Richard Walton.
Rachel most loved being with her family and was a loving and giving mom and grandma.
She will be missed greatly.
Survivors include her three children, Bruce (Patricia) Walton of Mullica Hill, N.J., Renee (Alan) Skuraton of Gillette, N.J., and Ronald (Debbie) of Oreland, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Kara, Jenny and Annagrace; Allie and Haley; and Kyle and Kaitlyn; one great-grandchild, Forest; and sister and brother-in-law, Lucille Kessler of Dubuque and Howard Shapcott of Iowa City.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Pauline Shapcott, and her brother, Ralph Kessler.
