Rachel "Rae Ann" Wickman, 90, of Manchester, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Marietta's Place in Manchester. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Masonville, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester. Friends may also call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Masonville.
She was born on June 26, 1925, in Hopkinton, the daughter of Alfred J. and Rachel M. (Anglin) Lahey. Rae Ann graduated from Buck Creek High School in 1942. She then attended Lenox College and taught country school near Ryan and Monticello.
On Aug. 26, 1947, Rae Ann was united in marriage to Ray E. Wickman at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Castle Grove. Ten children were born to this union. The couple farmed in Prairie Township and retired to Manchester in 1998.
Rae Ann was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and active in the Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of the Ryan American Legion Auxiliary. She will be remembered as one who loved and enjoyed being with her family.
Survivors include eight children, Jim (Shirley) Wickman of Manchester, Mary (Herb) Fangmann of Rowley, Larry (Jan) Wickman of Masonville, John (Nancy) Wickman of Cordova, Tenn., Tom (Teresa) Wickman of Germantown Hills, Ill., Julie (R.J.) Jacobson of Arroyo Grande, Calif., Jerry (Kim,) Wickman of Friday Harbor, Wash., and Joan (Jerry) Howe of Issaquah, Wash.; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Supple and Gerry Huber, both of Hopkinton; and a brother-in-law, Harold Crowley of Marion.
Rae Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray E. Wickman, in May 2008; two infant children, Lawrence and Edward Wickman; an infant brother; one sister, Mary Jane Crowley; and brothers-in-law, Justin Supple and Pat Huber.
