Quick, Alden (Al) H.
Alden (Al) H. Quick, 99, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. As per his wishes he has been cremated and there will be no funeral service. A memorial service may be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two daughters, Constance Quick-Hill of Green Valley, Ariz., and Deborah Connor of Iowa City; his son, Terrence and wife Pat of Marion; grandchildren, Staci of Cedar Rapids, Michael of Lamont, Nancy of Mebane, N.C., Scott and wife Christina of Mobile, Ala., and Eban and wife Sherrie of Davenport; two great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Ruth.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adell of more than 60 years; son, Steven; brother, Robert; and sister, Avis.
Al was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Mineral Point, Wis., the son of Henry R. and Mary Quick. He was united in marriage to Adell Parmiter on Feb. 21, 1935, in Sussex, Wis. She preceded him in death in 1996. He graduated from college at the Platteville School of Mines, Platteville, Wis. Throughout his lifetime he had a variety of engineering jobs. He retired after many years with the U.S. Government in the Civilian Service branch.
Al was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where he had so many friends who were like family to him. He loved to visit with people and we all enjoyed hearing of his many adventures that occurred during his long life. He will be truly be missed by all who knew him.
