Quaas, P. Genevieve
P. Genevieve Quaas, 84, of Alburnett, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, at Alburnett Christian Church, by the Rev. Dan Peterson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Inurnment: Lafayette Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Roy; her children, Richard Quaas of Ithaca, N.Y., Max (Linda) Quaas of Decorah and Mary (Tommy) Moore of Alburnett; four grandchildren, Joshua (Claudia) Quaas, Justin (Pasha) Quaas, Jennifer (Jason) Johnson and Jill (Terry) Logston; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Marie Pearson and Ellyn Schmickle.
Genevieve was born Aug. 16, 1925, the daughter of Herman Albert William and Florence (Lillie) Koch, in Alburnett, Iowa. She married Roy Quaas on Dec. 8, 1943, at Brookfield Farm in Linn County. She was a proud homemaker and farm wife. Genevieve was a member of the Alburnett Christian Church and the Alburnett Historical Society. She loved reading, playing bridge, and flower gardening.
Genevieve was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She touched so many lives within her community.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Genevieve's memory.
