Pusateri, Leona F.
Leona F. Pusateri, 86, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away at the Colonial Manor, Amana, Monday, May 30, 2011. Funeral Mass: 2 p.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Chris Podhajsky. Interment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel where friends may call from 3:30 to 7 p.m. today and after 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include Anthony, her husband of 64 years; children, Mary Ellen Pusateri of St. Louis, Mo., Rosanne (Paul) Wisor of Lowden, William (Colette) Pusateri of Iowa City, Jean (Ron) Bean of Norway, and Joan (Jim) DeTar of Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers, Louis (Gerry) Stolba, her twin, Leo (Carol) Stolba and Bob (Marcella) Stolba, all of Cedar Rapids, and Leonard (Carlene) Stolba of Buena Vista, Colo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Adolph, Milo and Emil Stolba; three sisters, Mary Ann Stolba, Margaret Phillips and Josephine Barcus; mother-in-law, Rosa Pusateri; and brother-in-law, Gus Pusateri.
Leona was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, to Edward and Anna Dvorak Stolba. She married Anthony Pusateri in Chicago, on Nov. 21, 1946. Leona was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved to garden, cook and was a compassionate caregiver. Leona was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Pope, his staff, everyone at the Colonial Manor, Amana and Essence of Life Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Leona.
