Pusateri, John P.
John P. Pusateri, 71, of 2469 First St. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404, unexpectedly passed away Monday, May 7, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jim Coyle. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military honors will be provided.
Survivors include his wife, Jenny; children, Connie (Kevin) Foreman of Cedar Rapids and Joe Pusateri of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughter, Samantha (Tyler) Andrews; brother, Pete (Judi) Pusateri of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Mary Ann Diehl of Cedar Rapids; and sisters-in-law, Olivia Pusateri of Overland Park, Kan. and Elsie Pusateri of Camarillo, Calif.
John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer Pusateri; brother-in-law, Ron Diehl; and brothers, August, Anthony and Joseph Pusateri.
Born April 25, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John was the son of August and Lena (Rinella) Pusateri. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley, Calif., and then attended Valley College. In 1959, he joined the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1962. On Oct. 24, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jenny Steele in Sun Valley, Calif. He worked for the Post Office in California transferring to Cedar Rapids in 1967, and retired in 1996. He then worked part time at The Eastern Iowa Airport as a luggage scanner and drove a limo shuttle.
John was a member of the Fairfax American Legion and a past member of the Izaak Walton League. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, biking, traveling to family gatherings and races.
