Purvis, Francis G.
Francis G. Purvis, 84, of Deep River, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Victor, with the Rev. David Mac Kain officiating. Burial, with military honors: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Moravia. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
Those left to honor his memory are his children, Carl Purvis (Milly) of Guernsey, Joyce Meldrem (Dennis) of Deep River, Sandra Evans (Marvin) of Guernsey, Bobby Purvis (Mary Ann) of Chaptico, Md., Mary Maschmann (Michael) of Brooklyn, Deborah Micheel (Ray) of Marshalltown and Edythe Kuntz of Brooklyn; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Floyd Purvis (Maxine) of Grinnell, and Ferrell Purvis, Freeman Purvis (Mary) and Florene Purvis Brown, all of Centerville. Also surviving are many relatives and friends and his fox terrier, Trixie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Essie Hiatt Purvis; his wives, Vera and Edna Mae; a sister, Frona June; and a brother, Forest.
