Procok, Caryl R.
Caryl R. Procok, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully to meet her husband on May 18, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Bob Dagit of Sharon United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until time of the service on Tuesday at the Chapel of Memories. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Harry Birch) Goldsberry and Shelly (Dean) Hatfield, Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Jill (Tony) Tabaka of Minnesota, Kori Smith-Wesner and Amy Goldsberry, both of Ely, Drew (Connie) Hatfield, Ryan (Summer) Hatfield and Regan (Mitch) Bloomquist, all of Cedar Rapids, Kim (Shawn) Finn of Walford and Susan (Rick) Herrera of North Carolina. Also surviving are her 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; close family friend, Shirley Cox; as well as nieces, nephews and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Nancy; and her beloved husband, Bob, on Feb. 29, 2012.
Caryl was born Sept. 21, 1917, in Walnut, Ill., the daughter of Maxwell and Ruth (Randall) Kurtz. She graduated from Grant High School in 1935. Caryl was united in marriage to Robert Procok on Nov. 3, 1939, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Colonial and Butternut bakeries and later at the Killian Co., retiring after 20 years in 1963.
Caryl was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries, El Kahir Shrine Auxiliary, WIBC and was a Camp Fire leader and past president of the PTA.
Above all, her greatest enjoyment was that of being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Caryl's honor be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
