Prochaska, Elizabeth Margaret

Elizabeth Margaret Prochaska, 93, of Tipton, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tipton, with the Rev. Donnita Moeller officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Elizabeth was born Sept. 12, 1919, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy Schmidt Ristedt. On May 7, 1946, she was united in marriage to Donald Thomas Prochaska in St. Paul, Minn. Elizabeth was a graduate of the Cedar Rapids Business College. She was a former employee of the Iowa Inspection Bureau for 10 years and retired from WMT Stations after 12 ½ years as itsr secretary.

She was a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Elizabeth is survived by two children, the Rev. Thomas Prochaska and wife Candace, Dayton, Ohio and Peg Bixby and husband Pat, Tipton; five grandchildren, Becky Anderson and husband Marshall, Grand Prairie, Texas, Stephanie Bixby, Tipton, Micah Prochaska and wife Lindsey, Chicago, Megan Prochaska, Chicago, and Meryl Prochaska, Chicago; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Anderson and Layla Prochaska.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents, Albert and Dorothy Ristedt; and brother, Ray Ristedt.
