Price, Lorraine Dew
Lorraine Dew Price, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon, following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Family Center and Library. Private burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving are her daughters, Linda (Jim Young) Olney of Cedar Rapids, Sandi (Bob) Kallenberger of Blue Grass and Charlane (Harlyn) Janssen of Hampton; her sister, Shirley A. Sander of Marion; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; and her sister, Ina (Bill) Nelson.
Lorraine was born June 23, 1925, in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Ralph and Mabel (Merrifield) Dew. She was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Wilson High School. She was united in marriage to Charles Price on Dec. 16, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1992. She was employed in customer service at Sun Mart Food stores, Iowa Electric, and Sakora Bakery. She also spent much of her working career assisting her husband in his restaurant business. She enjoyed cooking, and above all, time spent with her family and friends.
She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lorraine's honor may be made to Essence of Life Hospice, 3207 220th Trail, Amana, IA 52203.
