Price, Harlen L.
Harlen L. Price, 95, of Independence, formerly of Troy Mills, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at West Village Care Center, Independence. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point by Pastors Sherry and Leo Andersen. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon.
Survivors include three children, Dwayne and Mary Price of Cedar Rapids, Lois and Roger Doyl of Walker, and Lucile and Frank Zieser of Walker; a sister, Helen Smith of Perham, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor; two brothers, Harrison and Cecil; and two sisters, Vera Price and Sarah Annis.
Harlen was born May 5, 1915, the son of Clarence and Mary Addeline (Mote) Price in Linn County. He graduated from Troy Mills High School in 1934. He operated Price's Garage in Troy Mills all his life until retiring in 1973. On Nov. 10, 1935, he married Eleanor Evers at Spring Grove Church. The couple lived in Troy Mills. Eleanor died Dec. 23, 1998. Harlen moved to Independence in December 2001.
Harlen loved fishing, especially during his retirement years.
