Preuschl, Donald John
Donald John Preuschl, 48, of Coralville, died Jan. 15, 2013, at his home in Coralville. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Coralville with Father Walter Helms officiating. A reception will follow the service. A funeral mass and burial were held in Algona, Iowa, on Jan. 21.
In lieu of flowers, an educational memorial fund has been established for the Preuschl children.
Donald John was born Aug. 21, 1964, in Algona, son of Donald L. and Judith Ann (Tripp) Preuschl. He grew up on the family farm near St. Benedict attending school in Wesley and graduating from Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona in 1982.
He worked at the St. Benedict Locker and then at IBP in Storm Lake. He was married to Lisa Mogensen on June 23, 1990, at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. They made their home in Coralville where Don worked for Golden Coral Restaurants until 1993.
Don loved being with and caring for his four children. He had a great sense of humor and he easily made friends. He was an avid football fan especially liking the Minnesota Vikings. Don enjoyed military history, collecting stamps and coins, looking at cars and being outside gardening, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by four children, Jacob, Justin, Danielle and Jadon Preuschl and their mom Lisa, all of Coralville; his father, Donald L. Preuschl and his wife, Carol of Wesley; four brothers, Daniel (Molly) Preuschl of Algona, Jerry (Deb) Preuschl of Wesley, Dean Preuschl and fiancee Monica Diggins of Algona and Dana (Misty) Preuschl of Humboldt; his nieces and nephews, Andrea Marlow and Erynn, Kayla, and Kolby Preuschl; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his mother, Judith Preuschl on Oct. 16, 1995.
