Presson, Arla A.
Arla A. Presson, 103, of 2038 26th St. SW, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a brief illness. Per Arla's request there will be no service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Dotzauer and Judy (Gary) Svec, both of Cedar Rapids;, a son, Jim of Maquoketa; 13 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Jo; a brother, Harris; and a sister, Oma.
Arla was born Jan. 9, 1908, in Maquoketa, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Tubbs) Penrose. She married Atlee Presson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died in 1990. Arla was an accomplished and self taught seamstress who freely gave of her talents to both family and friends.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
