Preis, Betty
Betty Preis, 83, of Burlington, died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
Born July 26, 1927, in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Rex and Blanche. She married Robert Preis on June 27, 1948, in Ottumwa. She worked for Walworth's and Kay Jewelers and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Betty had a passion for painting. She enjoyed visiting Colorado and Lake Okoboji. She was a member of several Bridge clubs. She had an amazing personality and was loved by everyone. She had an empathetic ear and was a great mentor to many. She grew the best tomatoes and enjoyed raising and spending time with “Georgie Girl,” her dog.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Preis of Burlington; a son, Tim Preis of Santa Monica, Calif.; and a daughter, Dee Ann Preis, and son-in-law, Steven Gutman, of Woodland Hills, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Betty Preis will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. The Rev. Vickie Engleman will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date in California.
