Post, Donald R.
Donald R. Post, 64, of Hiawatha, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following complications from a fall. Memorial Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum. Inurnment: Zumbrota Cemetery in Minnesota at a later date. Friends may visit after noon Tuesday at the funeral home until time of service.
Survivors include his brother, Robert Jr. (Karin) Post of Zumbrota, Minn.; sister, Bette (Franklin) Lee of Northfield, Minn.; stepson, Colin Harms; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald Raymond Post was born Feb. 11, 1948, in Redwing, Minn., the son of Robert Herman and Serena Johanna Quast Post. He was a graduate of Minnesota State University in Mankato. He taught industrial arts at Holman High School in Holman, Wis., for many years and later worked in sales at Longview Fiber Co. and American Cyanimid. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Donald enjoyed many things, including hunting, fishing, and photography. His love of woodworking led to some amazing carvings. He especially enjoyed his lab, Sally, and his cat, Gizmo.
The family would like to express their thankfulness to the doctors and staff at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their kind and compassionate care of Donald over the past few months.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice in Donald's memory.
