Pospisil, Madeline M. 'Peppy the Clown'
CEDAR RAPIDS - Madeline M. “Peppy the Clown” Pospisil, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 21, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West by Pastors Tom Fogle and Randy Pospisil. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Madeline is survived by three sisters, Patricia Houdeshell and Nancy Nickerson and husband Dan, both of Cedar Rapids, and Alice Werneburg and husband Dennis, Marion; and two brothers, Donald Pospisil and wife Bonnie, Bertram, and Albert Popisil and wife Beth, Cedar Rapids. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Albia (Dvorak) Pospisil.
Madeline was born April 29, 1940, in Bertram, and was a lifelong resident of the Cedar Rapids area. She was raised Catholic and was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in her younger days. She currently attended Cedar Valley Bible Church, Cedar Rapids. Madeline had worked at Rockwell Collins for seven years. She had been the head cook at several Cedar Rapids nursing homes and retired from U.S. Nameplate Co., Inc., Mount Vernon, in 1996. Madeline, since 1989, worked 8,526 hours as “Peppy the Clown” at St. Luke's Hospital, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of Cadets of Saint George Branch 45 F.C.S.L.A. (formerly Catholic Workman).
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
