Pomeroy, Bruce L.
Bruce L. Pomeroy, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, in his home, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Concordia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry W. Doellinger. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Post No. 727. Burial: Spring Grove, Covington. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home and again after 9:30 a.m. Friday at Concordia Lutheran Church.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Brian (Tammy) and Harland, both of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Ronda Pomeroy of Amarillo, Texas; grandson, Brett of Coggon; granddaughter, Brianne of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Aletha (Harry) Pieschke and Darlene Young, both of Watertown, S.D., Jeannette Holida of Waseca, Minn., and Carol Elmore of Farmington, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents and brother, Ronald, preceded Bruce in death.
Bruce was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Henry, S.D., son of Lester and Florence Mortenson Pomeroy. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Dorothy Thomas on April 22, 1956, in Florence, S.D. He worked for International Harvester from 1956 to 1982 and then Agency Truck & Trailer Sales as a parts salesman, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Bruce liked hunting, fishing and playing slow pitch softball. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
