Pomeroy, Bessie V.
Bessie V. Pomeroy, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with public visitation starting at 10 a.m. The Rev. Beth Harbaugh will officiate. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl Henley (Gilbert) of Coggon; granddaughter, Tracy (David) Sigl of Rochester, Minn.; grandson, Brian (Dawn) Henley of Marshalltown; granddaughter, Jennifer (Tony) Bowen of Coggon; great-grandsons, Matt (Joelle) Henley, Daniel Sigl, Jacob Sigl and Creighton Henley; great-granddaughters, Isabelle Bowen and Claire Bowen; nephews, Dr. Michael Gallagher of Hamburg, and William Gallagher of Hugo, Minn.; and sister-in-law, Emma Gallagher of Hamburg.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Viola Gallagher; brother, Hulbert; and her husband, Charles H. Pomeroy.
Bessie V. Gallagher was born July 2, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Howard and Viola (Hagenbuch) Gallagher. She worked as an assembler for Rockwell Collins for many years. On August 1, 1969, she married Charles Pomeroy in Elko, Nev. He died in 1995. Bessie was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Silver Club and United Methodist Women.
