Polton, Richard Allen 'Dick'
Richard Allen “Dick” Polton, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial services with Masonic Rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. James United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sons, William “Bill” Polton and wife Cherri of Cedar Rapids, and Steven Polton and wife Stacey of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Gail Johnson of Lucerne, Calif.; a brother, Guy Polton and wife Joyce of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special friend, Mary Koopman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Polton; three sisters, Jean, Mildred, and Becky; and a brother, Don.
Dick was born Dec. 22, 1922, in Columbus City, to Joseph and Lois Troxel Polton. He married Betty Yule on Nov. 7, 1948, in Marshalltown. She died in 2002. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Mount Hermon Masonic Lodge, and a Hallelujah Acres Health Minister.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
